A sunny start of the day marks Day 2 of not drinking and it's as easy as it will be as it's just the start and not the weekend. A four day working week is still short enough to be special. Our newly fixed laptop is on the blink after three days, I have often believed that maybe they plant a programme in things to mess things up after days.
I've had a few coffees today so far and my mouth is really dry, could it be my son has passed his cold on to me.
How much money would be saved if my wife and I both stopped drinking? Considering that we would buy a crate of cans and maybe six bottles of wine from the supermarket a month and then there's the having a pint wherever we end up. It will be interesting to see but I have to keep it up first.

The IMAX is booked for my step son and I to see inception tonight. I'm looking forward to it and hoping I don't struggle to stay awake.

I have had one more thought about giving up drink one day and it seems to be recurring more and more frequently.
I mentioned sobriety to my wife and she said when you do I will. Then she said "why not stop after my birthday until Xmas?"
I said "whoa whoa let's not jump on it, it's got to be when I decide" but the seed has been sowed and if anything I will do it sooner. The thoughts of surviving on coffees and actually stopping up later and having more of an evening really appeals. I read about Richard Herring and it inspired me. He's on day 48 of not drinking. I tweeter him to say "what do you do to make weekends and birthdays better since not drinking?" he replied..heroin.

I'm cooking today, just a mince with lots of blended vegetables in too with spaghetti. My little boy is full of cold today so he's watching Finding Nemo on my DVD portable.
Technology is a dirty word today to my wife, the kids have drove her mad with mobile phones, annoying music channels and especially Facebook. So my tv watching has disappeared for at least today. How the he'll did I end up with my complete opposite? ( for the record that's an observation and not a moan).

After one and a half days back at work, it's time for a Bank holiday. Yesterday I visited my Aunt with my son. I always associate seeing her with me being pre teen. It was sad in a way that my Aunt was no longer able to lift my boy up etc due to age and health. But I'm glad they met at all.
I felt compelled to come home and paint but the three I did were so bad that they went in the bin.

Wednesday, 25 August 2010

I am sat alone in the cinema to watch Salt. The kids are next door to watch Diary of a wimpy kid. This as they say, is the life, for me. I started my morning off by playing on Mirrors Edge and I was approaching halfway, it's quite good actually.
It's my last day of holidays and I only have a day and a half to work before three day weekend.
I spent a lot of time on PS 3 playing Mafia2 and Mirror's Edge. Then My step son and I watched Dahmer.
This morning my little boy finished watching Finding Nemo in bed, and currently he is watching his first Wall E.

Myself and the kids had to collect the new School uniforms along with all other students today without the car. So we walked the one mile to school and I timed it out of interest to see how long it would take me. Twenty mins in fact. I've no idea why it takes them forty five mins.
The return journey had me leaving them behind as I was against the clock, eighteen mins this time. My competitive side was fully out. It's half one and I'm three films in today.

I completed three watercolours today which I enjoyed and was very therapeutic indeed. It's hard to tear myself away from the tv but it just shows that once I do there are other pleasures availible.

Went to Jimmy G's with wife and son. He had me take him round the large side and it was really hot. I had to contort myself through small spaces and carry/drop him through holes for people half my height. It was good but as I say I was really hot. Plus I went down a large slide after him even though I half didn't want to but there was no other way of getting to him.
I look forward to going again soon. There's not much else decent that you can get for two quid.
I'm finally stopping up a bit on my holidays so sleep is starting to pay off.

Saturday, 21 August 2010

lovely sunny start to Saturday and it got my wife on the computer looking at holidays abroad. I am apprehensive as always but ultimately it would be good. It would be so expensive though as all of us need passports renewed and new clothes. It's not till next year if at all... But probably.
Little man had me watching Barbie of Swan Lake today. He loves girls programmes it seems although I do think it's just a coincidence as he's a proper lad who is rough and tumble.
He's just having a lunchtime sleep at the moment which I hope means he'll still sleep tonight. I got bored of playing 'Left 4 Dead' as it was too easy and I flew through the first five levels in about forty five mins.

LATER...
This is better, watching Finding Nemo with my boy.
Went to Murgatroyds fish and chip shop and enjoyed our dinner but it didn't do great things for my boys guts.

Enjoying my time off. I'm getting through films too quickly though. My little boy has been to the toilet about five times today and has been the one to notify me every time.
I've not read as much as I expected."

It would be great to write lots of relevant stuff but my bubble is too small. I'm giving Jacob a bath, I'm wondering whether I should have a couple of drinks tonight or not.
I want to stay up late and play 'left for dead' but tiredness becomes too strong. I'm having a coffee now to give me a run up at this evening but the evening will win out.
Jacob is really trying to pursued me to do things his way by 'tantruming' and I do my best to shut off and go but it's hard cos he's so special to me, they wrap you around their little finger.

Wednesday, 18 August 2010

My little boy used the toilet a few times today successfully and also his potty. He declared that he'd done a chocolate wee and I was very proud.
He picks things up easily, it's a shame that the teenage years will regress him to be idle again.
Fingers crossed he's understood to stay asleep through the night as the last three nights he's pretty much slept through. The hard bit is me not rushing to him.

Sunday, 15 August 2010

t turned out warm actually today. My boy and I went to my mates and sat in his garden enjoying a pint while my boy watched the water feature pouring. It's been a relaxing weekend and it's not over yet as I've got a few cans when little lad gets out of the bath. Wales was good but it's nice to be back. It was good to see my friend today too and he seemed well.

Friday, 13 August 2010

A little vodka and coke.
Headphones on in a low lit room.
Movies and ghost programmes
Alone to enjoy it if i want,
Absolute bliss.
We all have our moments of contentment and this is mine.
If I didn't have a wife and kids though it would be meaningless and hollow, so I do understand that the real heaven in this is to be credited to family.

Thursday, 12 August 2010

We made our little boy give Grandad all of his dummies. And with a little added distraction of chocolate it was a success.
I carried him round as he was falling asleep and he didn't mention his dummy until five am. I said Grandad had them and he remembered. Tonight may be different. Sleeping with his mouth open did give him a sore/ dry throat. But I suspect he slept better being able to breathe. So hopefully the next phase is having him sleep through.

Wednesday, 11 August 2010

Sleep interrupted every night without fail. Little boy stirs in his bedroom and comes to his door steadily increasing his cries. We have started to be firm with our voices to make him understand he's not to get up but it's still a struggle. My friend is expecting his third and he's ready got two toddlers, I can't imagine how that's going to operate.
I feel fine through the day while imbibing yucky coffee but once bedtime approaches my body switches off. The last couple of evenings I have been made to go to bed before properly tired because when your wife goes to bed
Nine times out of ten you HAVE to go to bed at the same time. But yes sleep is being interrupted and it's an important commodity.

Tuesday, 10 August 2010

Got Sky HD and plugged it in. Nice menus I thought , as predicted my wife looks at HD picture and says "it doesn't look any different"
They are genetically programmer with that response and every woman on the planet will have the same response.
It's the same as when she shows me two sets of curtains and asks mr which one I like the most. I'm not equipped to answer such questions , it's like asking a loaf of bread whether it prefers mac or pc.

Monday, 9 August 2010

Returned from my week away and I'm impressed by the north of Wales, especially Llandudno and Beaumarris. It was a pleasant week with all the family but quite stressful with Jacob all the time. It feels like a long time since I've watched tv.
Finally get sky hd tonight.
It's taking a bit of getting back into all this technology, I feel like I'm juggling electric.
