I awoke with something of an 'Ugh' as my sleep had been deeper than I had anticipated after my two pints of cola at 10:30pm the previous evening. By 9AM i had collected my friend and we were on our way north through the valleys near the Lake District, until we reached the A69 outside Carlisle, where we headed to Hadrian's Wall. But firstly we discovered that the Tourist information centre was actually a priory the whole. I bought a fridge magnet for my collection......which isn't a collection so far......as this was the first one. We drove east until we reached a road side section of the wall where we found mostly Japanese tourists perched on top of it like nesting eagles. Over their side of the world they have a better wall of course, so I suspected that they had just come over to mock our pesky wall. In fact, maybe they hadn't been innocently squatting atop the wall for a photo opportunity at all, but had actually been taking a huge shit on it in a show of dis appreciation. We payed entry to a Roman Museum which had a 3-D movie that gave an eagles eye view of the wall then and now. I learnt the basics of roman legions and centurions etc which really filled in the blanks of my knowledge. I half expected to see some roman graffiti which read 'Hadrian Woz Ere 12 AD' but no such luck. After this we headed home again on another two and a half hour pilgrimage home. The valleys looked even more splendid on the return journey actually. It was good to get away but I'm looking forward to not doing so next weekend. I've been exploring the idea of staying in bed much of next sunday even. The thought of having the laziest of lazy days will be something of an experience as i sit watching Netflix and dozing. There was a last minute call at my Grandma's house for my son's birthday cards and money and then i went back to watching The Master.
It's 10:19pm now on a sunday night. My day still wasn't as good as being with my son with his bike or indeed, just being with my son. Tomorrow is a busy day with work, Son, Drums and late cinema with stepdaughter. I expect a midnight finish on a Monday. I'm tired just thinking about tit....so I'm off to sleep.
